Fuse repeatedly blows?
The fuse that controls the gauges apparently has blown. It happened suddenly while driving a few days ago. I located the proper fuse, replaced it and thought all was good. Lasted about a day. Two more replacement fuses did not work at all. Does each individual gauge need to be checked? The tach, speedometer, fuel gauge, oil, water, battery, and PRNDL do not work. Is this an easy fix for an average local mechanic? How much should it cost? Thank you.

the best way to see if this specific repair would be easy, would be to chase the wiring from the fuse holder to see if there might be chaffed, broken, grounded wire. sometimes the problem could be at a melted fuse box. if lucky, you or the mechanic might find the problem quickly. it is hard to say if this is an easy fix, there are so many variables and at the same time that is what makes a job costly, as well the make and model of your car dictates the price of the repair. so, shop around because some shops charge an hourly rate

id say that you have a short. the use is there as a weak point to protect all of the devices on that circuit from too much current. take it to a shop and have it looked at.
