Is $14 at IHOP for an omelet, English Muffin and glass of water too expensive?
They just recently opened a new IHOP near me (I live in Southern California). Today I ordered a spinach/mushroom omelette which comes with a small bowl of chopped fruit.It didn't come with any toast so I also ordered an English Muffin. A glass of water was my drink. I was shocked when I got the bill.With tax, but without tip , it was over $14. It was over $15 with tip. I was expecting the omelette price to be around $7.99 or $8.99. ( I didn't recall what it said in the menu). Certainly can't eat there every day at that rate.

Honey, they have this thing there called a MENU thau lists the prices of everything they serve. You should not have assumed what the price would be, you should have looked. And the prices sounds about right for ihop.
BTW you did not tip enough. 15% would have been about $2.10, bringing your total to about $17

Yeah we have an IHOP where I live and I never go there because its just to expensive. It also sounds expensive for just a omelet and english muffin when you can make one at home for like only a couple of bucks.

Even if we use the price you assume $8.99 for the omelette, a average English Muffin at chain restauant (non-fast food) run $3.99 - $4.99, so 8.99+3.99= $12.98, assume 7% tax = $13.88
so the price are right in the ballpark.

That seems like a lot to me. Call and check the price and see if you were overcharged.
