Why do people think that vampires and werewolves are enemies?
I see it everywhere! But has there every been any actuall evidence to prove this? In any literature, mythology, commercial literature, but nothing recent. I've noticed that's it's popped up in the last few years.
Something besides twilight, because the author of that had to get the enemy idea from somewhere...

I remember watching something on tv a couple of years back. Twilight didn't make it up (I mean hello Underworld 1,2 and 3 had vampires vs lycans in it).
Well anyway, it's something to do with some old Transylvanian folklore that they are very ancient enemies, I could be wrong.

In maximum movies they are enemies. yet then there are some they do no longer seem to be. actually relies upon on their relationship. some vampires used werewolves as slaves, to guard them whilst they slept for the duration of the day.

Because twilight ruined every good thing about vampires and werewolves and planted unrealistic seeds in people's heads
Source(s): I read them. Sadly. - goldenkhalilLv 59 years ago
Im not sure where it came from. and i doubt anyone can tell you where. I know Dracula could transform into a wolf-like form and he could control wolves.
So whos the say those wolves he controlled wasnt werewolves?
And anything under someone elses control WILL learn to hate them eventually.
Underworld and Twilight simply used what was already there.
LONG time ago there was a black and white movie Dracula versus the Wolfman lol
But to justify it. think about it like this. A vampire is UNdead. they died and was reanimated. So whomever knew them KNOWS they died.
Werewolves are still living! They ARE HUMAN except that once a month at first they become monsters. And eventually they learn to control it to where they can transform whenever they want.
Dont you think a vampire would LOVE to be able to be HUMAN for a while again. to NOT hunger for a lil while.
And i believe werewovles would hate vampires for being FULLTIME UNdead. Creatures who are no longer human all the time. Who seek to control them.

Simply because they were created and cursed to be the enemy of all mankind..............

I'm pretty sure we can blame WhiteWolf's World of Darkness gaming system for that. Vampire the Masquerade was their first game, back in the early 90s. Werewolves were quickly depicted as their enemies. Since then, plenty of other sources have followed that theme, including Underworld (which was unsuccessfully sued by WhiteWolf) and Twilight.
You are correct that it has nothing to do with traditional mythology. What I find disturbing is the number of people who now presume otherwise.
Then again, I'm also disturbed by the number of people who think vampires and werewolves are real.

There are no REAL werewolves or vampires. So they can't be friends or enemies. They are made-up fictional characters like Batman , Santa Claus.King Kong, All super heroes,Jesus and the Easter Bunny.
They aren't real.

yeah why the hell are they enemies? they need a good book about when they are friends and hold hands and skip up a rainbow or something..... awkward silence..... ok ok something a bit more serious than that like ... .uh .... when they form an alliance or some shat like that. they just need a book about where they actually get along for god sakes
Source(s): *shrugs* i dunno my head or something. i dont know where the holding hands and the rainbow thing came from. hey.. hey! dont pay atenttion to the rainbow thing. thats just embarrasing man - fireflyfliesbyLv 79 years ago
It's called Twilight.
-edit- Because authors never have original ideas? Ever?
