I know what you mean. I was really dissapointed with the line up this year. I mean come on, Harry Potter......for Chrsitmas!?!? We see enough of Harry Potter during the year, we don't need to see it again at Christmas time. Christmas time is for Christmas movies, not movies that they show all year.

All I know is ABC Family did show the Tim Allen's Santa Clause movies(one or two of them were shown more then once), Polar Express, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Twas The Night Before Christmas(once only last year and this year) and Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July. Did not see any repeats of some what old made for ABC Family Christmas movies or new ones. Don't know did they show Rudolph's Shiny New Year at all. ION had all new made for TV Christmas movies and the Hallmark channel show some new ones and repeats of their old ones. AMC showed the George C. Scott 1984 made for TV Christmas Carol movie two nights in a role back to back and two or three time of White Christmas. CBS did show Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer(twice), Yes Virginia and Frosty The Snowman(twice). I don't think Fox and the CW showed any Christmas movies or had any live specials and new or old made for TV Christmas movies. NBC only had one or two live Christmas specials and that was it. ABC did show like four other Christmas animated on their regular network.
What was not shown on any networks or Cable networks are It's A Wonderful Life, Holiday Inn, other versions of Christmas Carol, Beyond Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street(original & remake), It Happened on 5th Avenue, I'll Be Home for Christmas, Santa Claus: The Movie, any versions of the Nutcracker, Fred Claus and Noel.
Well that how it was this year on the networks for the holidays.

Tell me about it. To be honest, I have no idea. Cheapskates.

Television networks do not choose holiday content based on how relevant shows are to the holiday, or how much they inform or enlighten. They choose what is expected to be popular and sell products for their sponsors. Looking to corporate sources for respectful portrayal of spiritual events or ideas will always result in disappointment.
