Laptop not connecting to router?
I have my laptop connected to a wireless router via ethernet. It says there is limited or no connectivity. I can't log in to my router. I can connect with my xbox (wired), and another computer (wireless).
Ipconfig results:
autoconfiguration IP address: 169.254.98.93
subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

Make sure you are using the proper encryption (wpa, wpa2), and the correct password to log on to your network. If you are certain those are correct right click on the connection icon in the lower right side of your screen and select repair.
See how that works...let me know if you still have problems and we will proceed with the next set of steps.
P.S. To confirm this, and depending on your OS (Operating System - but I will presume this is a general M$ version), click Start --> Run--> type 'cmd'. If you're running Fista or W7, then click "Windows button"/Start --> type 'cmd' into the "search" box/bar. Press [Enter] This should open a black "command prompt" window, if you type.'ipconfig' and press [Enter] it will show you some lines of text. I think you will see "IP Address......" followed by 169.254 .x.y - which is the "autoconfiguration" IP address. Edit your question with the ip address being given.

subnet mask is wrong. or maybe a typo. try and resetting your lan card. Network connections, right click LAN and choose repair, or disable then enable. that should help
Also you can try and ping your default gateway.
