can i damage the cd reader on laptop by copying a lot of cds?

well i have a pavilion dv7 and after 2 years im bearly using it to save music from cds to my droid phone, and i want to know if it will do any damage to the lens it has to read the cd/dvd or burning cd/dvds, thanks for reading, i plan on copying 11 cds back to back

    Eleven CD's wont hurt it. I'd imagine even 100 burning sessions wouldn't hurt it. I mean, it's designed to be used.

    Now... if you were to use that same consumer-grade computer to duplicate 100 disks a day over the course of five years, then yes I'd say you'd drastically shorten its lifespan.

    Bottom line is this -- you bought the machine to be used. Use it for both what you bought it for and what it was designed to do.
