Does the college you attend really matter?

If you're only going for something like say, web development/design, does the college you attend really matter to a prospective employer? I'm going to a top university right now, but only because it's in my hometown. I'm considering moving somewhere else and possible going to a community college there. Is that going to matter later when I go get a job?

I can only answer based on my 20+ years in the IT industry the formal education helps to get you in the door but rarely has anything to do with advancement from within an organization.

Yes it does. If you have a good college on a job application like Stanford then that will sound much better then a community college. The reason is because Stanford is such a hard school to get in to because only really smart people can get into it a community college any one can. So your application will seem allot better if you stick with the college you are at.

Yes it does matter. It matters hugely. Where you got your degree often matters more than what class/grade degree you get.

Keep at the top University. It will be far better for you.

No, it doesn't matter. What matters is that you have a degree.
