Hair salon business.......?
Salon business at my place?
I am 22 years old and I live on my own in a apartment (Hydro is included) so I don't pay extra for that, I just pay my rent amount and that's it. I do hair perfectly I can roller set perfectly probably better then salon service (no joke) and after sitting under the dryer I blow dry hair straight or use a hair straightner but I only use Dominican Products. I do my own hair and get complimented alot and also do my friends hair since they know i am perfect at it.. I was thinking of working from home and charging 20 dollars to wash and style hair ( I WILL NOT BE CUTTING, PERMING, COLOURING, OR USING FAKE HAIR) Since I am not qualified to do that. Is it a good idea to do this from home and make a little cash to pay for my hair school that I should soon be attending once I make the money for it ($3,000) because this is something i really want to do and i am confident will work great. I do not have a hair license but I plan on getting it soon (I live in Canada) Toronto, Ontario.. I was even planning on making personal business cards to give out to friends and family!?!?

I think you will be taking a big risk as you will be misrepresenting yourself. Much better to just get a job in a salon doing shampooing and such for the qualified stylists.

Even though you are in school, you are not legally allowed to perform a service on someone unless you are licensed. It's kind of like malpractice in a way. You wouldn't want to go get open heart surgery in a med school student's garage, would you? Even if you do roller sets like a pro, it is illegal for you to touch anyone without being licensed (outside of the school anyway). If you burn them or make their hair burnt and fall out, you're not going to have insurance if they sue you! I suggest you get another part time job instead where you wouldn't be held liable for someones safety, health and beauty. As someone getting into the field of cosmetology, you should have more respect for the industry and realize they make you get an education and go through the process of getting a license for a reason! Otherwise any idiot with a curling iron can charge people at their house to get their hair done.

I know a lot of people that do this. It's best to keep it to friends and family and verbal referrals. Doing a business card is a little bit tricky because you would be operating an unlicensed and unregistered business.
By the way, you shouldn't be doing your friend's hair for free. They are taking advantage of you.

It is a good idea to start this business at you home. You will also have to register your business so that you can run it legally.Include your new business in Canada online business listings as well so that people can easily find you.

Well, it would be illegal to practice cosmotology out of your house here in the states...but up in the frozen tundra backwoods of Canada, I'm sure it is fine
