ONLINE store how to generate traffic?

I have an online store with ETSY under store name flaflowerfloozie but I am not receiving a whole lot of traffic. I would like to know how to get more traffic to my store, I don't have the funds to do pay-per-clicks or any of those gimmicks...I worry that they pay people to click on your ADs to benefit them since I have seen ADs for such work, so that option is out. I have a Facebook page under the same name flaflowerfloozie and a twitter acount under flaflowerfloozi that's not really doing anything at all. I can't seem to figure out how to get people to follow me there must be an insider knowledge to that I don't know about yet...so do you have any thoughts or ideas for me? Thanks for your help, FFF

There's so much that can drive traffic to your site but it's a matter of how well you understand each technique and why it works.

there are a large number of small businesses and websites that use pay per click via google adwords, and facebook ads as their method generating sales and leads. you'll see the click fraud sometimes when a particular market or keyword has extremely heavy competition. but that is not a reason to dismiss a possible avenue that would actually generate a lot of money for you.

    Traffic Options:

    1. search engine optimization. ranking high in search engine results

    2. social media. actively searching for qualified leads on networks, making initial contact, creating a real friendship while subtly promoting your products. for this to be effective you have to master the skill of relationship marketing. do a search on that term to learn more.

    3. classified ads. they are usually free like craigslist, oodle.com, etc. they offer the benefit of getting your link distributed. add great pics, good sales copy, optimize the ad.

    4. video. youtube is excellent for what you offer. your videos could be tutorials showing unique or low cost methods on how to garden. how to garden in pots, small spaces, or whatever little niche you can find. in the description box add your store link and always state the name of your store and how they can find you in the video.

    5. article marketing. write articles and post them to sites like squidoo and hubpages. if you can write a large volume of articles you will notice that this can generate traffic also. put your link in the article. drive traffic to your store.

    6. blogging. a great way to generate traffic and promote your items.

    7. write press releases.

    8. paid advertising. pay per click really does work. you don't have to risk your money to find out thought. google adwords and facebook ads usually have offers where you get to advertise free. google gives you up to $100 free if your starting your first adwords account. facebook ads will give you $50. Thats $150 worth of free advertising.

    9. optimize your etsy listing. make sure your tags are all extremely relevant. research the categories so you understand the volume of what's being sold. some categories have a massive amount of products added to them daily and I think on etsy your only at page one as the submissions come in. if you in a category where you'll stay on top longer might help. plus less competition.

    10. join the groups and actually get to know as many people on etsy as you can. offer to promote them. by promoting them they are more likely to promote your store also. form win/win alliances with people. find out from them what has been working and share that with others.

    11. blogtalkradio.com . this site allows you to create your own radio program on the internet with your mobile phone. you record you shows and broadcast them. you can even accept live callers and answer their questions. you show would be about flowers and gardening I guess. but it's an effective and professional way to reach out to people. your show can even be posted to your social media sites. optimize your profile.

    12. brand your company. create a logo, tag line ( phrase that tells people the problem your solving ) and use that on everything concerning your company. that way your companies images get associated and instantly recognized for what you do. to learn more do a search on branding and marketing.

    13. business cards and fliers

    14. attend trade shows or events.

    15. ask present customers to refer you to their friends and family

    16. participate in forums. do not market in them but get to know your target market and offer good communication and content.

    17. email marketing. crucial for an online business. basically you want to capture your visitors via an opt in form. do a search on email marketing to learn the techniques and what it is and which companies offer the best email marketing service. aweber is $1 the first month and pretty much the industry standard.

select only one area at a time because you have to master that area first to produce results. that's not an overnight thing. eventually you'll see gains.

Cool store! I think it would be a really good idea to use the google adverts system. I know it costs a little but I think it would be a great investment. They do that thing where ads come up based on what people search. For example, I saw you had some cool Hunger Games stuff, so if you made an ad specifically for the Hunger Games memorabilia you stock, when people search Hunger games on google, your ad will pop up on the sides! This is really effective as your ad is garunteed to reach people who are genuinely interested in your prouducts! Once they're at the store, they may order some other items too! Another idea would be handing out flyers outside your local gym or sports center (ask first) as I saw that you have a lot of sports gear in your store such as the sports socks and women's sports bras. This would also make sure that you're reaching people who will probabily be interested in your product (since they're going to a gym). I'd avoid approaching gyms and sports centers that have sports equipmet shops within them, as they'd be very unlikely to allow you to promote your sports items outside. Do find centers that DONT have shops though, as they will most probably be okay with you handing out flyers. You could also hand out flyers outside sports arenas, stadiums and sports festivals. (make sure you ask the organisers) Make sure to spread the word among friends, family and colleagues. Word of mouth can be THE best way to advertise! Also, never underestimate the power of social networking! make a facebook page for your site which people can "like" and also post your store info on your facebook so others can share it Hope this alll helps!!

    Hi Pawsalot,

If you're prepared to put in a bit of time and effort you can advertise for free. I personally use these methods as they also create backlinks to your site. This is what I suggest you do.

Grab a cup or glass of your favourite drink, find a place to relax where you won't be disturbed and watch this set of video tutorials on free advertising. They will guide you step by step on the way to do each method. They are also FREE to you. Nothing to pay.

I find it helpful to advertise under personal webpages as well. Do you have a personal Facebook page? A personal Twitter or Blog? Get your product name out there through these sources. Let all your friends know about it and ask them to tell their friends about it. Put up posts such as: "Hey everyone! Please check out my page!" to your personal pages weekly to keep your idea in the minds of others. Eventually, they will check it out. If they like what they see, they will tell others about it. Good Luck! :)

It all boils down to Page Rank in the end. So Meta Data, Backlinks, and hits.

To get hits, I recommend you use forums that are similar to the products you're selling.

To generate traffic for your store you need to promote it online. Start promoting it with local listings and classified ads. Build up a list of your targeted keywords and promote your store for these keywords.

Have you tried posting a listing on craigslist or possibly setting up an ebay account for your etsy account?

decide keyword phrases that are best and specific to what your web page is about. think from the mindset of someone searching for what you are offering on your web page. ask, as if you were they: what could i search for residence am looking for something on your page?
