Why is or dog so afraid? help asap please.?
About a year ago my bf and I got a dog when we played with her at the shelter she showed no signs of being afraid she was just happy but then when we took her home she was afraid of my bf we tried all the tricks in the book for her to not be afraid of him. He fed her let her out and everything I didn't even pet her but still she was afraid of him and avoided him as much as she could except when we are someplace public. If we take her to the park she prefers him but when we are at the house she its really afraid. Why is she like this we need help.

It sounds like your dog was abused before you got it. A guy problubly abused your dog. Thats why shes afraid of your bf. How long have you have your dog? If not to long id say give it time. If not I wouldnt contact a trainer. Your dog isnt afraid in public because i would bet she was abused in a house. Just a guess. Thats what happened to me and my bf. After we had the dog for about 3 weeks she wasnt afraid any more.

aw poor baby! When you adopt an animal from a shelter you have to understand that a lot of them are traumatized by past experiences. They did not get there by being loved and well treated. You guys have to try and build her trust and love for him. Try playing games, feeding her treats, petting her regularly, taking her out for walks. Just letting her know that she is in a secure environment I'm sure it's going to take time and a lot of effort on his part.

Maybe she's just a womens dog. She may feel safer when out with him since he is a male. You guys could try leaving her with him and him just playing with her without you around. He needs to show her she doesn't have to be afraid of him. Good luck!
