A breed of dog that will get along with a Beagle?

We are thinking of getting a second dog to keep the company of our 6 month old Beagle. She gets so bored during the day, and since we're going back to work and school, we thought it might be good to consider the idea. Our Beagle (Pippa) is great with other dogs- but she can be perceived as annoying to older dogs that simply don't have as much energy as her; She just wants to play all day! We don't want another Beagle (They'll probably plan an escape together- haha) but want a dog similar in size. It must get along with kids and be able to keep up with Pippa as she is so full of energy. We want as low maintenance as possible and hopefully not known for too many problems (e.g: barking excessively, digging, destructiveness) and must be suited to staying outside most of the time.

Do you have any suggestions on a breed that suits these needs (I know it's a big ask) Or have any tips if we decided to look into shelters? Thank you so much in advance!

Breed diesn't matter. Go to the shelters and see what's available.

Really any type of dog as long as it is not an aggressive. I would also go for a dog the Beagles size, or a little bigger

Its not the breed you should be thinking of, its the personality and training of the particular dog you choose.

Probably a terrier (they are very energetic) or a small toy dog who is friendly and playful.

any dog that you have time and ability to train and exercise

bigger dogs can hurt smaller ones just trying to play
