Did you rock your baby to sleep?
My 14-month-old has recently been acting really crazy with her naps. It started when we went out of state for the holidays (about 3 weeks ago). Up until that point, I could simply lay her in the crib, and she would fall asleep peacefully on her own. But ever since we were out of town and even after arriving home, she flat out refuses to nap unless I rock her to sleep. I've tried letting her cry in her crib for 1-2 hours, but she simply will not sleep without being rocked. I can't stand seeing her so tired, so I've been giving in to the rocking. What I'm wondering is, have any of you rocked your kids to sleep, and how long did they continue needing it? If I rock her to sleep for each nap, will this create bad habits, or do they typically outgrow it? I'm just sick of fighting her on this, and rocking her doesn't hurt me; I love rocking her, actually! Any tips?

This will pass, just go ahead and rock her for now. I just went out of town with my son (16 months) and he has had some anxiety from it and is not sleeping well for the last week and he is getting over it quickly.
She is most likely just experiencing some anxiety over having traveled and probably doesnt understand if she is going to have to experience this again soon. Just keep giving her some tlc and watch her signs that she is ready to fall asleep on her own again. Fighting her on it will only increase her anxiety.

I have rocked my son since he was born. He is now nearing 6 months and will not nap or go to bed without being rocked. I did break him of the habit when he was about 4 months old I would lay him in his crib let him cry for about 5 minutes and rock him to calm im down and then let him cry for 5 minutes again and then I'd rock him to sleep. I did that for about a week and then I would allow him to cry for 8-9 minutes at a time and by the 3 week he's cry for just a few minutes before putting himself to sleep. I just unfortunately fell right back into the rocking thing as a habit =X. Turns out it was easier to break my son of the rocking than it was myself. However for now I enjoy it. If you find it taking up to much time then you could try doing what i mentioned I did above.
EDIT* My son does wake up during the night generally once and I do not rock him then I give him his binky and he will put himself back to sleep.

I rocked my newborns to sleep when they woke up in the middle of the night, but they had settled into regular naptimes by the time they were a few months old. Maybe your daughter doesn't need a morning nap anymore, but she'll take a longer nap in the afternoon.

Try rocking her only until she's drowsy. Put her down in the crib, if she cries pick her up and repeat until she's a sleep.
