How can I get the X-box live tag I want?

Question

So, I started out playing fable3 on my pc using a local profile because I didn't wish to join it to net just yet.  When I did join it to the net, I had to tell it what tag I want to use.  Checked online, found that the tag I used was free.  So I go to use that one but then I get an error saying that the tag is currently in use.  So I do a search again for any tags that start the same as mine.  Found a few matches, but nothing was exactly the same, actually, it was a 9 letter tag, and nothing matched after 5 letters.

I have tried using the recovery feature and transfer feature.  Neither worked.

Anyone have an idea as to wtf?

Maybe you made the gamertag accidently while checking.

check:

& enter the name you had wanted to see. if someone did end up taking it that wasnt you (check your WLM accounts!) then you cant get it back even if they consent to changing it.... sorry :(

ok, the TAG you want, may not be used for a few reasons:
1, xbox/microsoft deems it offencive,
2, some one has used it for xbox 360 ( and is still registered )
or,
3, some one is using it for a ZUNE account. ( used in the microsoft servers )

press your profile and click change gamer tag

you need 800 points  to change it thow
