What to do with my white miso paste?

I bought this huge bag of it at an Asian specialty store and I've used maybe a teaspoon of it for a stir fry once and it's been in my freezer ever since. What else can I do with it?

You can freeze it, too. You might want to freeze it in smaller portions than the whole bag to make it easier to use.

Miso paste basically lasts forever in your fridge as long as you don't contaminate it with dirty spoons.

I would make a glaze/marinate with it, you can use it for fish (black cod, salmon) or chicken breasts.

    1/3 cups white miso paste

1/3 cups mirin (sweet Japanese rice wine)

    1/3 cups sake

    2 tablespoons of sugar

    2 tablespoons of soy sauce

Marinate fish or meat in refrigerator for 2 hours up to 5 hours. Remove from marinate and put in oven or under broiler until cooked to your preference.

If you don't like either, here's a great recipe for a Miso Vinaigrette

    1.5 cup White miso paste

    2 cup Rice Vinegar

    1L Light Olive Oil

    1 tablespoon sesame oil

Mix miso, rice vin, sesame oil in large bowl with whisk until smooth. Slowly pour olive oil in a stream while whisking. This recipe makes quite a large batch, so you might want to do half of everything.

You can make dressings, marinades, miso soup, spice pastes for meats and fish.

It will last a long time even in the fridge. Just make sure you keep it well sealed.

Boil with water, tofu, scallions, and seaweed for a traditional Japanese broth/soup.
