WiFi slow when not charging?

my battery is full and yet my wifi is so slow, i tried plugging in the charger or when i switch my laptop's mode to speed (high performance) and suddenly my wifi is super fast. . .

i have sony vaio vpcsb

    get wired its 100% all of the time

    check your power scheme in the control panel

    laptops love to save power especially on WiFi signals.

    set it ALWAYS ON

    It's not the wifi, it's most likely that the processor downclocks when idle or in power saving mode, giving you less processing power, so all tasks may take longer to complete. the same may be happening to the gpu, which further diminishes performance.
