Metal Fans: Obscura vs Thulcandra?

Question

maybe an odd comparison, and i'm pretty sure I know who will be favourited, but Steffen Kummerer is the vocalist and guitarist for both bands...so why not compare??

both released albums which are in my top 10 of 2011, Omnivium and Under a Frozen Sun.

MQ: so which band do you prefer and why?
MQ2: do you hear any similarities since Kummerer is an integral part of both bands?

BQ2: who else released two albums in the same year in two different bands (no guest appearances)?

as much as I like Christian Müenzner, and all the phenomenal guitar work he has done for Spawn of Possession, and Defeated Sanity, I do believe that in the underground technical death and or death metal genre Obscura just might be one of the most overrated bands in there. don't get me wrong they are good but just not quite my cup of tea which may seem shocking. 

However, Muenzner is a friggin monster, Kummerer does a few things for the band if I am not mistaking, just not bass. as far as bass playing goes Steve DiGiorgio is way better in my opinion.

Obscura has a line up of mass talent and I respect the hell out of them but I am going to have to with Thulcandra. I know, Shocker!
