Looking to buy a 1992 FORD F250 7.5 460 V8 4x4 extra cab truck. Is this a good reliable truck?
I've always wanted to buy a reliable truck for some time now and was able to find a great deal for $2200 locally. My main purpose for this truck will be for occasional homedepot hauling use, and a trip to the snow mountain every now and then. I've heard many stories about how great this truck can be but I've also heard some bad stories in regards to some mechanical issues. I was told this truck is extremely horrible on gas mileage. Since this will be my occasional use truck, gas mileage is my least concern! My main concern is if this truck would break down a lot and if it's expensive to fix since everything is so "BIG" on this truck. Is this a wrong perception? Is this a reliable truck? Please help me, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have been around ford trucks for many years and without a doubt the 460 gas big block is my all time favorite heavy duty trailer puller. It also works fine for what you are talking about and with the right tires will be a great truck for the snow. It is the best big block gas motor ford ever made, gas mileage is probably 11 around town (fuel injection) and maybe 15 on the highway. Beyond that it is a good dependable strong truck and If I were looking for a ford that would be the motor I would want under the hood.
As with any used vehicle the higher the miles the more potential problems you can have. Taking a truck to a mechanic for a 100 dollar inspection is a good idea
