  • Domestic violence - My girlfriend's dad punched me in the face, what should I do?

So my girlfriend and I are constantly having relationship problems where we argued almost every week for the past 4 yrs. To give you a little about her background, she was diagnosed with bipolar years ago before she met me, I actually found this out 2 yrs after I met her from her family. She is very insecure and has an anger issue. She accused me of many things in the past which are far from the truth. But to cut the long story short, we had an argument today and we were shouting and yelling at each other back and forth. When it was my turn I shouted right in her in her face. She then started pushing me and hitting me so I pushed her back. She tripped backwards over a room heater behind her and when she fell, she grabbed me and that is when her dad approached me from behind and punched me in my left eye. I swung back at him and my girlfriend broke up the fight and tell her dad to stop, "he didn't do anything". Her dad has been living in my house for the past 2 years because when he first moved to California, he needed a place to stay so I told him since my house is pretty empty ( I only live there part time), he can rent a room from me and so he did since none of his kids wants to move in with him. Now, after this incident, I feel extremely uncomfortable having him around my house. After the argument when the dusts settled, me and her decided to break up and separate. I offered her dad the money back at a prorated amount for the remaining of the month and told him to move out immediately but he refused. He said he has 30 days time frame to move out legally. I was upset at the time but I remained calm and said fine. I spoke with my attorney and the sherriff in my county, they said if I file a report meaning to press charges, they can have him arrested for assaulting and have him move out immediately at the same time. But right now I just don't know what to do, since he refused to leave immediately, how should I handle this situation? I really don't want to escalated things because for one, he is my ex-gf's dad but I really want him to move out asap. But he didn't budge even after I offered him money back so he can move out today. Should I do call the police go the hard way or should I just let him move out in 30 days and let it go? Please advice!!!

  • Looking to buy a 1992 FORD F250 7.5 460 V8 4x4 extra cab truck. Is this a good reliable truck?

I've always wanted to buy a reliable truck for some time now and was able to find a great deal for $2200 locally. My main purpose for this truck will be for occasional homedepot hauling use, and a trip to the snow mountain every now and then. I've heard many stories about how great this truck can be but I've also heard some bad stories in regards to some mechanical issues. I was told this truck is extremely horrible on gas mileage. Since this will be my occasional use truck, gas mileage is my least concern! My main concern is if this truck would break down a lot and if it's expensive to fix since everything is so "BIG" on this truck. Is this a wrong perception? Is this a reliable truck? Please help me, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • Is there an affordable long term RV park in the San Francisco Peninsula area?

I'm looking for a long term affordable RV park in the San Francisco Peninsula area. I'm assuming some of these RV parks has electricity, water, and sewage hook up? I may consider other parts of the Bay Area as well, if the prices are good.

  • How does a 1988 28ft Bayliner 2850 Command Bridge handles out in the ocean?

I've heard Bayliner built good solid fiberglass hull in the early days like other boat manufacturers. I'm considering to purchase a 1988 28 foot 2850 Command bridge OR, a pre-blister year 28 foot Uniflite.

Here's the spec for the Bayliner:

    Dimensions

    Beam: 10 ft 0 in

Minimum Draft: 3 ft 3 in

Bridge Clearance: 6 ft 8 in

    Dry Weight: 5775 lbs

    Engines

    Engine Brand: Ford

    Engine(s) Total Power: 300 HP

    Engine Model: 460

    Engine Type: Inboard

    Drive Type: Stern drive

    Propeller: 3 blade propeller

    Cruising Speed: 25 knots

My question is this: Can this boat's hull handle rough water in the Bay Area and more importantly, is it capable of rough water in the ocean? Or should I consider a Uniflite instead? I know for a fact that the Uniflite's hull are ocean capable and can withstand rough water, but bayliner's amenities are way nicer? I will be using the boat for fishing. Thanks!

  • Toshiba A665 s5187x ci7 2630QM Laptop with no graphic card? Please advice!?

I have an opportunity to purchase a Toshiba A665 s5187x ci7 2630QM laptop at an incredibly low price of $679 at a local electronic superstore. I know this is one of the lowest price CORE i-7 with the new sandy bridge processor around. I just have one concern though, this laptop is equipped with an Intel HD shared memory built-in to the core processor, it doesn't have a dedicated memory graphic card. The question is, I will be doing minor to moderate digital camera pictures manipulations and video editing with aftermarket software. Would this laptop do the job or should I purchase a Ci-7 laptop with a graphic card which will cost about $200 more? Is the extra cost with the graphic card worth the extra $200 since I won't be playing any games? I was told the only difference between the two is speed when it comes to video editing and compressing? Can someone confirm this? If it's speed the only downside I can probably live with. I can't image the hyper-thread sandy bridge processor will run any slower than my 5 yr old AMD Turion 64 processor! Also, if I were to compare Toshiba vs Lenovo? Which is a better built unit?

  • What is the set back for building a home in Clearlake Oaks, CA from the front lot line to the house?

I want to know what is the minimum set back requirement for building a home in Clearlake Oaks, CA from the front lot line to the perspective home? It would also be great to know the set back in feet to the side and the backyard against the lot lines? Basically, the entire set back in feet around the house! The lot that I'm interested in has somewhat of a slope towards the back of the lot. The front to mid part of the lot are fairly leveled so my intention is to bring the house near to front as much as possible. Does this sound reasonable? Also the slope from mid section of the lot to the back has a 45 degree angle downslope. Does that considered steep? What are the advantage and disadvantage for this senario? What do most people do when grading by a contractor? Any useful info will greatly appreciated! Please advice! Thank you!

  • What are some of the best ways to protect personal assets in California?

To make long story short, I’m facing a possible foreclosure on my first primary residential property in California. It’s a money purchase loan and it has never been refinanced. Due to the current California laws, I’m protected under what is called “anti-deficiency” law meaning once the bank foreclosed the property; they are not allowed to come after me for the balance that didn’t satisfy the loan balance after the sale of the auction. I want to be sure that my small personal assets are shielded from other unseen circumstances so here’s my question: I purchased a small residential parcel lot back in 2003 at a fairly cheap price in California using an owner financing agreement and it will be paid off next month. The grant deed will then be transferred onto my name and gets recorded with the county. What are the best strategic ways to transfer the title to me without the possibility of losing this property in case I get sue. The current value of this parcel lot is at around $45k. I don’t

  • Which part of Costa Rica should I go if I want to see the best rainforest and a fishing trip?

Okay, I've posted a few questions here today and so far I've made up my mind as to what I want to do in Costa Rica. Since my travel time is rather limited - 5 days. I would like to see the best rainforest if possible, and to join a fishing trip. Can anyone tell me where I can get the best deal on both and where to stay. My main concern is my budget. I've looked into a few CR fishing trips and they cost a ton, somewhere in the $700 USD range? This is outragously high! Is this possible? I'm not looking into something fancy at all just a ordinary fishing trip. So to sum it all up, where I should stay to cut down my travel time and at the same time be able to do both and still have time to see more? How far is San jose to Quepos? I've found tons of great hotel deal in San Jose but don't know how difficult to go from SJ to Quepos. Some day Quepos is the best and SJ for more for business travelers? I have 5 days 4 night. Please help!

  • Would it be cheaper to buy a Costa Rica vacation package from Hotels.com or separately?

I'm planning a short trip to Costa Rica for about 5-6 days. Would it be cheaper to buy a vacation package deal from hotels.com or buy airfare separately online and then book hotels locally when I get there? Where would be a good and cheap place to stay in San Jose and Quepos? What are the availability around this time of year? What is the best traveling method from San Jose to Quepos?

This is my first time traveling to Costa Rica. Since my travel time is rather limited - 5 - 6 days so I'm looking for some advice as to where to go and which part of Costa Rica should I be traveling. Where should I make currency exchange? what is the best method of going around town in terms of transportations? what's the best place to go? Where can I go for fishing trips? Any particular area I should avoid going in terms of crimes? Where can I go shopping? Also I want to see the volcanoes and the rain forest and some say San Jose which be ideal but I 've looked into hotels.com, there seems to be more than six destinations in Costa Rica, so where should I go? Keep in mind I only have about 5 - 6 days. Any advice and suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

  • Should I buy a 1999 Honda CBR 900RR? Feedback needed!?

I'm looking to buy a 1999 Honda CBR 900RR Fireblade. Can someone give me some feedback on this particlar bike as far as handling, performance, etc. I love the way it looks and I've actually ridden an '93 but given the time and improvement, the '99 definitely has several improvements as far as power and weight reducion. One of the reason why I would like to buy this bike is because i got a great deal, but should I spend more money and purchase a newer bike? Is the fuel injected, newer model nowadays worth spending the extra bucks?? This would be strictly a weekend toy bike, not a daily commuter! Please advice!! Any other sportsbike I should also be considering?

  • How to choose the right size sports bike?

I'm looking for a sports bike but am confused as to which size bike is right for me. I know sports bike has came a long way in the last few years as for improvements on most bikes. Most bikes are now fuel injected and I think that's part of the reason why most sports bike nowadays are so powerful. I've test ridden a 2003 Honda 954RR and I gotta say it's powerful and scary fast. The owner of the bike upgraded to a 520 sprocket, power commander III, K&N intake. So is it really because of the modifications that has been done to the bike or is it that a stock bike are about the same??? I saw a great deal on a 99 Honda 900RR but don't know if I should spend a little more and get a newer, fuel injected bike. Some say a modern 600, 750 will crank out just about the same if not more amount of horsepower as the carburated 900RR? How true is that? Truthfully, after ridding the newer, fuel injected 954RR, I don't think I will need that much power. My ridding experience is moderate, I had an older 93 Honda 900RR - which ride nothing like the 954 in terms of power, and a 2001 650cc Yamaha V star. The 99 Honda 900RR is a great deal I've found so far but am I buying an outdated bike? Or should I spend a little more and get a newer, fuel injected, smaller bike like the 600/750 class bike?? Please Advice!

  • Am I protected under the anti-deficiency statute law in California if i defaulted on my mortgage?

I'm one of those unfortunate homeowner who purchased a home during the boom and also got one of those adjustable mortgage. I've been paying my mortgage on time and am not behind on my payment whatsoever. But my payment will start adjusting in a few months and the value of the house has taken a dip and I was told if I want to refinance my current mortgage, I would need to come up with the differences in order for my bank to refi. So my question is this, if I'm not able to come up with the money does that mean I cannot refinance? Am I **** outta luck? I've been responsible for my debt and I got screwed over my loan because my former loan officer did not disclosed those critical terms and loan details. On the closing day at the escrow office, my former loan officer wasn't even there at the signing. She told me just show up and sign the documents and I was naïve and I did it. Do I have a case against this loan officer if I plan to sue her? The bottom line is, if I stop making payments and eventually foreclose the house, does the bank has the right to come after me for the differences that didn't satisfy the loan because of the anti-deficiency statute in California? Am I protected under that law? The house is my primary residence and it has never been refinanced. My current loan is an 80/20 piggy back loan, with a 2yr fixed/adjust every 6 months. I'm just worry that the bank will come after me for the differences if I do foreclose on the loan. Any suggestions? Ideas? Alternatives? Is there any way I can avoid foreclosure? Any government agency I can turn to for help? I'm very stressed out so please advice! Thank you!
