What is the set back for building a home in Clearlake Oaks, CA from the front lot line to the house?

I want to know what is the minimum set back requirement for building a home in Clearlake Oaks, CA from the front lot line to the perspective home? It would also be great to know the set back in feet to the side and the backyard against the lot lines? Basically, the entire set back in feet around the house! The lot that I'm interested in has somewhat of a slope towards the back of the lot. The front to mid part of the lot are fairly leveled so my intention is to bring the house near to front as much as possible. Does this sound reasonable? Also the slope from mid section of the lot to the back has a 45 degree angle downslope. Does that considered steep? What are the advantage and disadvantage for this senario? What do most people do when grading by a contractor? Any useful info will greatly appreciated! Please advice! Thank you!

Wherever you go to get your building permit will have all that information. We built approximately 300 houses on the side of a hill like you are describing. The streets ran across the slope so half of the houses were on lots like yours and half had the slope up at the back of the lot. Those with down slopes all had walkout daylight basements and most built retaining walls across the back property line, most were about six to eight feet tall, that did a good job of leveling the back yard and made it usable.

You need to contact your city's Building Department. They have access to all city rules and regulations pertaining to the area. The city I work, if they are not too busy, can also give you advise regarding grading. You may also need to go to the City Planning Commission with your plans for approval.

I don't remember if Clearlake Oaks is it's own city. If it's not, you will need to contact the Lake County Building & Planning department.
