Should we ban all public displays of religion?

It seems to me that in recent times there has been a lot of offence caused by religious items and clothing. Examples like white brits complaining that sikhs can carry a ceremonial knife, even into a courthouse, or ride a motorcycle without a helmet. A muslim woman complained about an air stewedess for wearing a tiny little christian cross on a necklace barely noticeable. Or that muslim women walk around unidentifiable under a burka after a failed suicide bomb attempt has caused outrage.

Islam is becoming the fastest growing religion and is catching up with christianity quite rapidly due to the fall in the christian faith.

I put it to you that all public displays of religion wether it be a christian cross, christmas tree, lights for diwali or turban, should be kept in the home away from the risk of offending others, but more importantly, the most important reason of all... There is no god! Im afraid its true. Many years ago we believed the universe moved around the earth, we were wrong. More recently we believed in witchcraft, we were wrong. And we still believe in god but yet again, we are wrong. Ask any true scientist or highly educated person. Blind 'faith' is a reckless waste of life. If you must live in the dark, please... Stay at home, and stop holding back the human race!

Belief in God is wrong "Ask any true scientist or highly educated person'

SO....Newton & Kepler were not true scientists or highly educated?

Presumably your IQ is well over 200, or such a statement is immature in the extreme.

Religion has and always will be there and there is no harm with moderate symbols of faith. In modern times there are so many extreme people.

Any true scientist will never make claims that can't be backed up and not one has, or ever will come close to disproving God. Science states that there must be an answer to everything, which also means there must be no exceptions to anything and there must be an ultimate number. Please tell me what that number is and I'll accept your argument.

PS. By the way, if there was no God, everything would be dark because there would be no sun or life because there would be no reason for either.

This is sad...it really is..for someone to have so little faith, it sounds very depressing and i am so sorry for you, i really am. You say you know it is true that their is no God? I am not sorry to tell you, that there is a God, He is very real and you wouldn't be alive if it weren't for Him. I know 100% that God is in fact very real. You should know that there are many scientists that believe that their is a God, that it is impossible for everything to have happened the way that it did, for everything to have been created the way that it is without a God. Many believe this, so you are wrong on what you said about that. There are many highly educated people in the world who believe in God, and i think it is very sad that you choose to follow something just bc some scientists and highly educated people do. I don't believe in God or follow God bc people say He exists. God has revealed Himself to me time and time again personally. And i know enough about the world, and the theories that certain scientists have come up with to know that God exists. I also know enough about God, to know that He exists.

I will NEVER stop displaying what i believe, whether it is my clothing, my cross, or anything else, and i especially will never stop telling the world about God. I will never stop letting the world know who i follow and why. I will never stop acting the way i act and saying the things that i say..most people know i am a Christian by the way i act bc i try my hardest to let God be seen through me. God is far more important to me then this world. I have respect and love for everyone in this world, including you, but i in no way will ever choose another person, or the world over God. You should be ashamed of yourself for what you have written and i pray that God has mercy on you. I pray that you realize the truth one day soon. God bless you!!

You know, it's sad when a majority of the population has to knuckle under to the silly whims of the minority because they're "offended".

Tell me, how can a Christian cross on someones neck possibly harm someone? If that symbol means something to them, let them have it!

If a Sikh wants his turban, who is anyone to be "offended" by that and now the man has to remove it?

The world would be a much better place if other people would mind their own damned business and not worry what others do.

I am for keeping all religions and god out of public institutions. As far as what people could wear in public they should be free to express what they want. A burka that covers the face I can for security reasons see not allowed. If we allow one to wear a face covering than we have to allow all. I don't think that makes a very safe environment. So anything that could conceal the face no. Anything else yes. It is part of free speech and art expression.

While I agree, we can be doing so more much good to help humanity than spending billions of dollars on religious related affairs. All the energy and good will people feel for religion can be focused on reality, to help those in need with real problems. In the end though, we have to remember that religion is the heart in a heartless world.

    Einstein believed in God.

Stephen Hawking reluctantly chose agnosticism after his failed attempts to prove God didn't exist.

99% of scientific awards are given to people of faith.

Sorry to break it to you, but asking a true scientist will get you a statement of faith.

freedom of choice. if you dont believe in any religion then why should those who believe in god be wary of their religious beliefs in case they offend you? bloody ridiculous!!

seems like nowadays everyone is offended by any little thing.

tough luck. you are just going to have to lump it like the rest of us.

by the way im muslim but i respect every religion. if i want to practice my religion by wearing a headscarf then i sure damn will!! my life my choice.

at end of day no one is forcing their beliefs on you. you do what you like and leave the rest of us to it
