In many places in China, the water is actually safe for consumption . . . but it's the pipes that it's transmitted in that are unsafe. I do brush my teeth in tap water and I wash my fruit in tap water but that's about it. I never drink it to quench my thirst.

If you have habitually late water delivery, then 1) you should order your water sooner than you think necessary. Have a pitcher or two of water from your old bottle filled while you are waiting. 2) Have a couple of smaller bottles on your shelf for situations like this. 3) Boil your water before drinking it.

Like many countries you should not drink the tap water. You can brush your teeth and bath with it but best to drink bottled water.

Once or twice it is normally ok, unless it's yellow and has grit in there then it should be fine :D but you should boil the water and don't drink too much of it. Stay safe - Thechinaboy

Boil it first. That's what most chinese people do. It shouldn't do you any harm occasionally but I wouldn't make a habit of it.
