I am confused about purchasing Final Cut Pro...any help?

I am thinking of buying Final Cut Pro for my Mac but I am confused with the differences when purchasing from Amazon and the App Store. On the App Store, Final Cut Pro X is £199 and on Amazon Final Cut Pro is £899.99. On the Apple website and the App Store, I cannot find the Final Cut Pro program for this price, so is this just a mistake on Amazon?

Is there any differences between the Final Cut Pro from Amazon and the Final Cut Pro X on the App Store except for the price? If the software is the same, why is there such a big difference in price?

Thank You :)

There are major differences. Final Cut Pro X has been dumbed down for accessibility but this has meant it is hard to work with for professionals. Many call it a 'glorified iMovie' with Final Cut has never previously been described as. The Final Cut Pro you found on amazon is the 'better', earlier Final Cut Pro that the majority (of professionals) have switched back to or never changed from. Main problems include oversimplified UI, and inability to arrange the workspace to your liking. If you decide you don;t like it you might want to look into but Final Cut express if money is a problem however I wouldn't stop you from getting 'X' if you are a beginner and are used to iMovie. But remember, ANY PROFESSIONAL will tell you it is crap.

On the App store it is the new FInal Cut Pro X. On Amazon it will be on old version of FInal Cut Pro Studio which included several applications including FCP (version 7 or earlier), Motion, DVD Studio, Color etc.

FCP X is now sold as a separate application only available from the App Store, as is Motion. It is a move to a purely digital workflow and so has abandoned, or rethought, many of the old paradigms that have been leftover from the age of slicing pieces of celluloid together. Some editors struggle with change while others embrace it and welcome the opportunities it portends.
