Would Paul fare better than Romney against Obama?

I personally think Paul would fare better than Romney, because Paul has something Romney doesn't and that's across the board appeal especially among independents and Democrats fed up with Obama. With a poor economy, and poor decisions by the Obama administration, the only thing Obama can hope for is a united Democratic and Independent base to propel him to victory.

Ron Paul is the only candidate that can take that any from him. Romney is too Conservative for Independents and Democratic and not conservative enough for those in his own party. Overall, I think Paul is a bigger threat to Obama than Romney. If he wins the nomination, he will have to have won over a majority of Independent and Democratic voters, and Obama is going to have a hard time getting them back.

Update:

Ron Paul is the only candidate that can that AWAY from him. Sorry, for the typo.

Age is cited so often..however..the greatest republican president ..and only GOP presidential candidate I voted for during my life time was

    Ronald Reagan February 6, 1911 January 20, 1981 69 years, 349 days

That man was no where near as healthy as Dr. Ron Paul.

Yet Ronald Reagan made a fantastic president and attracted my vote.

In the same way...Ron Paul will draw away democratic voters. Now if GOP voters are upset at Ron Paul they can always vote democratic.

Poll results this early of Obama versus Ron Paul are way to early to tell much...most people still don't seriously consider Ron Paul ...partly due to the media.

Ron Paul has "across the board appeal"?

    Are you kidding?

Ron Paul has a hard core group of supporters who believe in things like repeal of the Civil Rights Act, abolition of the Federal Reserve, and restoration of the gold standard, AND ALSO support legalization of all drugs.

Those are NOT ideas with "across the board appeal." They are ideas that appeal to a relatively narrow segment of the US population. And that segment is already very familiar with Ron Paul.

No one who supported Obama is going to be on board with those ideas. This is just a pipe dream.

Ron Paul vs Obama may be the only genuine debate...Dr Paul might call Obama out on how he stayed in Iraq way longer than he suggested he might, Escalated Afghanistan, surpassed the NDAA, bombed Libya with out congress, voted to bailout Freddie and Fannie, retains the conflict on drugs going (even overriding states with medical hashish regulations). The others basically agree on all that stuff, Romeny and Obama have the comparable foreign places coverage, the two might surpassed the NDAA, the two help the conflict on drugs....they're notably plenty the comparable with minor adjustments

Ron Paul would fare worst against Obama. According to Rasmussen poll , in a head to head presidential match up Obama would crush Ron Paul by 9% percentage points. That is a clear land side victory.

IF HE DID get the GOP nod... yes, no doubt about that at all.

Paul will pull in Obama voters, and the Cons would vote for anybody but Obama.

If he ran as an indy, then he would lose right along with the GOP candidate.

Absolutely not ! How many times will the GOP send a geriatric against an incumbant or a younger man, before they realize it's not working. Bob Dole in 1996 against Clinton, John McCain against 0bama, and now you want to send Ron Paul as the GOP candidate. NOT !

    Depends.

    I prefer Jon Huntsman.

Absolutely a Tea Party candidate will lead to a forced Obama vote against my will.

Grover Norquist is not my king

Someone has Obama by the gonads NADD?

We all know the tea Party = NDAA

Listen we need to get rid of all of them

1 big gov of corrupt wall street money

Hard to say. I would vote for Paul over Obama. I will not vote for Romney over Obama.

I would like to think so but his libertarian views clash with so many social conservatives whom want to impose their values on others. I think unfortunately the U.S. has not progressed enough for someone like Ron Paul due to ignorance.

    No.

Paul is popular because most people don't actually know his positions. If was the GOP candidate expect the spotlight to shine on his many crazy ideas.

He would quickly turn off many of this own supporters.
