Mormons: Is Kolob the name of the star or planet where your God supposedly lives near and what type of star is?

it? I'm guessing a white dwarf.

Update:

Anthony, Honey, there is only one star in our solar system and it's not called Kolob

I would be perfectly happy to answer that if I didn't know I was being completely mocked. That's your choice though to think that. I will say this though. The more you learn about space, about this universe, the more you learn how mysterious and unknown it is. The only explanation for this kind of thing is that God has a hand in it. The fact that God lives on a planet that no one knows the location of is really no more crazy than anything else out there. We just can't expect to comprehend things that are divine. Not saying I can prove there is a place called Kolob, but, like I said, there are a lot of things I don't understand, but I believe it. God living on a planet, in the very place he created, isn't all that odd. Besides, the bible say God lives in the "heavens above". Sounds like space to me. You can choose to mock me, go ahead. Doesn't mean I don't believe it though.

All that we are told is that Kolob is "nearest" to God's throne. And the only reason that we are told that is in the process of God telling Abraham that our sun gets its light from and through Him. (A rather symbolic and enlightening tale I might add.) One other thing that I feel the need to mention is that the most that the concept of Kolob gets brought up in an average LDS congregation is once about every about 4 years. It is really not that big or important part of our beliefs.

Its a Star and we dont know what kind of star it is.. If I told you what type it was that would be speculation and therefore irrelevent.. What is relevant is what is in scripture and in scripture it says Kolob is the nearest star in our solar system where God is closest too...

    Abraham 3:9

9 And thus there shall be the reckoning of the time of one planet above another, until thou come nigh unto Kolob, which Kolob is after the reckoning of the Lord’s time; which Kolob is set nigh unto the throne of God, to govern all those planets which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.

    Abraham 3:4

4 And the Lord said unto me, by the Urim and Thummim, that Kolob was after the manner of the Lord, according to its times and seasons in the revolutions thereof; that one revolution was a day unto the Lord, after his manner of reckoning, it being one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that whereon thou standest. This is the reckoning of the Lord’s time, according to the reckoning of Kolob.

    Abraham 3:16

16 If two things exist, and there be one above the other, there shall be greater things above them; therefore Kolob is the greatest of all the Kokaubeam that thou hast seen, because it is nearest unto me.

    Abraham 3:3

3 And the Lord said unto me: These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.

    Abraham 5:13

13 But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the time that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die. Now I, Abraham, saw that it was after the Lord’s time, which was after the time of Kolob; for as yet the Gods had not appointed unto Adam his reckoning.

If you want to know where those who keep the commandments of God will dwell in Heaven, look no further than to the ground beneath your feet. Earth, in it's glorified state in the future, is the place where those who love Jesus Christ with all of their heart, might, mind, and strength, will be.

This planet, of all the planets in all the Universes, is Jesus Christ's footstool.
