Shipping things to the US (2 part question)?
My friend in the US has a birthday coming up and I wanted to send her a little 'international gift'.
I live in Scotland, and when we talk, I'm sometimes amazed by the things they don't have in the US, that we do have over here (Like certain chocolate bars, etc).
So I was going to send her a selection of stuff, including some little typical 'Scottish' gifts.
Now my 2 part question is this: Do I need to let the US Customs know about my package before I send it? Because it's going to have food in it?
And also, does anyone have any ideas for what I can send to her? Some typically 'UK' type products?

I have no suggestions specifically about the kinds of foods, but think about all of the things that you eat on a weekly basis, especially snacks or special treats. Lots of biscuits, tins of cookies. chocolates, marmite that do not show up in the US. I would avoid _any_ meat product - regardless of how it is packaged - many countries are very strict about prohibitions on the import of meat, fruit and vegetable items. Avoid anything that might spoil. Think about having up to a 3 week delay in transit. Whatever you send needs to be able to tolerate that without any problem. Pad the items well so they do not get crushed.
For shipping, when you take your package to your local post office (or UPS or Fed Ex location - those may actually be better, but maybe more expensive), you _will_ have to fill out a customs declaration form to say what is inside. You may be able to get advice about what to put on the form from someone in the post office. I don't think you need to list all of the individual things. It may be sufficient to say something like - "Packaged food gift items." But ask the clerks about it.
Good luck. I'm sure whatever you send will be a treat for her.

All international shipments require a lot of information of each item. So you have to give details about the items. There are also restrictions of shipping certain items. He best is to go a local post office, FedEx or UPS. The best is to go FedEx or UPS for international shipments
