What to do for baby's chapped nose/cheeks?

My daughter has her first bad cold at 14 months old. There are boogers EVERYWHERE, LOL! I've been constantly wiping her nose with Kleenex. Her cheeks, nose, and upper lip are now red and chapped from this. I've switched to using a clean baby washcloth, but she's still miserable and cries every time I have to wipe her nose (about six times per hour!) I've tried to keep her clear with a nasal aspirator, but that only does so much. My question is: Is there anything I can do to make the whole nose-wiping less miserable for her?

Try Aquaphor ointment on her face. It's very gentle, and will protect her skin.

Everytime you wipe, dab a little olive oil around her nose. It will help ease and prevent the chapping. Other than that there is not a whole lot to do except wipe gently with a soft warm cloth, maybe do the steam room to help clear her and keep her clear longer by letting her breath some cold air immediately after the steam.

Oh my...u do not have to be so harsh on her gentle n tender skin.Wipe her running nose gently with a soft tissue disposable tissue. If there is any dry mucus left wipe it with a piece of cotton dipped in lukewarm water & each time after doing this apply some baby cream or baby oil on the outer skin of her nostrils n lips.Only nasal aspirator will not help give her some drops for clearing her stuffy nose, running nose & sneezing.Once the dose is given at regular intervals her running nose will be in control & your little baby will sleep soundly.Take ur doctor`s advise first before giving any medicine to the baby. Please do that n make her n urself feel less miserable.

Apply aquaphor or vaseline after each nose wipe. It will coat it, take some of the sting and redness out and make the next wipe a little less painful because it won't be so dry.

i'm a nurse interior the pediatric huge care unit... infants get chapped lips each and all the time. We use Vaseline variety lip balm (is presented in a squeeze tube, can get it for under a dollar at Wal*Mart with all of their different chapsticks and such interior the medicine area).

You could buy tissues that have lotion in them. Otherwise, try putting vaseline on her face. Just a small amount and don't put it up her nose because it makes it too hard to breathe.

Get puffs plus lotion. They are much gentler than a wash cloth. Also, use lotion on her face as well. I use curel lotion on our daughter's face because it gets severely dried out int he winter.
