whats the best way to get to wembley arena from outside london?

i've been offered a volunteering place at london 2012 and have some training coming up at wembley arena but i live up north near manchester. i'm just wondering what the best way to get there is by public transport. a bus down is probably cheaper but then i'd have to get from wherever it stops to the arena which i guess could be expensive.

does anyone here live in london or has been themselves that can help me. Thanks

Some Manchester - London coaches stop at Hendon, Golders Green or Marble Arch, although the fare will be identical to London (Victoria Coach Station). By alighting there you might save time and money on your trip to Wembley. Hendon is the closest of the three options.

Train Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston then Underground Metropolitan Line to Wembley Park

or train Manchester Piccadilly to Watford Junction then London Overground to Wembley Central

Trains from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston run every 20 minutes and the journey takes 2 hours 8 minutes. For the lowest fares book well ahead for specifically timed trains. I would bring: Lots of cash. Hotel prices are pretty high in London, and I'm sure you aren't going to want McDonald's every meal of every day of your stay. The shopping in London is exceptional as well, and it'll probably be heartbreaking to force yourself away from that amazing dress or that pair of shoes you'll never find anyplace else. So MONEY. It'll be cold when you're there, so you should make sure to have a hat, mittens, a cozy coat, maybe a scarf, and boots. A CAMERA. That's almost enough said, but you're for sure going to want to remember the great time you'll undoubtedly have. A digital camera would be most convenient; lots of memory to spare! I would carry around a key or a tiny switchblade in your purse in case some creeper decides to choose you as a target--if not, a rape whistle or something. Remember not to dress outstandingly gorgeously; you might flash a bright sign to crazy people: "Go after me!" Don't go onto dark, unpopulated streets alone. (Not to freak you out--it's easy and obvious how to avoid those situations.) A smile! Have a great time!

manchester into london Euston, onto tube to kings cross, 1 stop only, then onto the Bakerloo line to wembley hill, 5 min walk, see link below for map of route.

If going by bus to London, you will get off either at Kings cross or Victoria, if kings cross follow route above, if victoria, on to underground, victoria line to kings cross then follow route above or get a london bus outside station, sure you can get at least 4 busses direct to kings cross. have a good trip

Train or bus. So you think a train will take you to your exact destination? Think again.

You will need digs not far from the job, you need to go down a few days early.

Travel in London is not too expensive.
