What is the difference between a passport and a visa? Do you need both to stay two weeks in a country?

passport is proof/identification of your country, visa is a permission you get from a country(other than your own) to allow visitation.

Some countries don't need a visa to visit and some do. Some may require a visa to some foreigners and don't require to some. It really depends on what your nationality is and which country you're visitng.

Passports are also commonly used as documents just to certify the person's identity, for example in opening a bank account.

A visa is the name for permission to enter a country. Many countries require a non-citizen to have the permission of the government of that country in order to enter or remain inside it. It's not called "permission to enter or remain", it's called a visa, that's all.

It depends on the country you're going. because there are some countries that doesn't need visa just a valid passport :D
