If only God knows when the end is then why?

Why do Christians listen and believe doomsday televangelists blabbering about the 2012 thing? Doing it for money?

The 2012 end of the world scenario is a purely Secular and Pagan hoax. No responsible Jewish, Christian, or Muslim leader supports any of the "prophecies".

One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or about 5125 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world. Here is what a Mayan elder says on the subject: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howabou...

These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.

Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

Here is also what NASA thinks about the 2012 End of the World scenario: http://pwg.gsfc.nasa.gov/stargaze/StarFAQ18.htm#q3...

    • The End of the World •

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

Briefly, there are two kinds of doomsday heresies, the pre-trib and the post-trib "rapture" and the Catholic doctrine holds to "amillenialism" which teaches that we have been in end-times since the destruction of the Temple.

The two common heresies are literalist and are prone to counting days to make false prophecies, looking for the "mark", whereas the Catholic doctrine accepts a sense of Divine time that is not limited to our calendars and also accepts more mystery in just what is likely to happen at the Second Coming.

    Revelation 19:9

And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.”

Revelation is thoroughly and completely rooted in what Catholics see going on around them at any ordinary Mass in any sleepy little parish in the world.

The mystical Marriage Feast of the Lamb is quite simply the Eucharist and the Eucharist is an anticipation – right here and now – of the mystical Marriage Feast of the Lamb at the consummation of all things.

That is why Jesus said “The hour is coming and has now come.” The kingdom of heaven is already here, but we live in the “now and not yet.”

When He comes again in glory the foretastes we have received in this life will blossom into the fullness of life and the Bride and Groom will at last live happily ever after in the eternal marriage supper of the Lamb.

Even though we may long for the day of the Lord’s return in glory, the time of that return is unknown. Not even Jesus knows; only the Father knows (Mark 13:32). We are warned against false prophets who say that the end is near (Mt 24:23-26), but Jesus assures us, “I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Mt 28:20).

Until that time, we are to be about the Lord’s work, “Blessed are those servants whom the master will find at work when he arrives” (Mt 24:46). If we look too eagerly for Jesus’ return on the clouds of heaven, we may pass him by too often on the street (Mt 25:31-46).

Mayan 1: Dude.. We ran out of calendar stone.

Mayan 2: That's okay. There are thousands of years on this stone. Someone else can finish the calendar later on.

Mayan 1: Dude, what if people from the future saw out calendar and thought we were predicting the end of the Earth because the calendar came to an end!?

Mayan 2: Oh my goodness, that would be hilarious!

Mayan 1: Yeah! But they'd have to be pretty stupid to believe that!!

    Meanwhile, in 2012..

Simply put...Christians dont listen to these ramblings. So called Christians and false Christians do.

Dont get me wrong, all of us have a sense of curiosity and want to know things and we are even looking forward to the day of the Lord, but we do not put our trust or even waste our time with babbling televangelists..........>
