Looking for Puerto Ricans to answer this one?
My boyfriend and I are from Florida and have decided to travel to Puerto Rico for vacation. We are looking for a quiet and romantic week on the beach. Also want to try authentic foods and get a taste of local life there. Can you please give me some ideas of where to stay? Thanks so much!
If everybody went to where they were *supposed* to ask their questions, Yahoo! Answers wouldn't exist.. but thanks for the tip!

Quiet and romantic week on the beach, then stay away from the metro area (San Juan and surrounding area). I recommend Culebra. A small island off the east coast of PR with some of the worlds best beaches. Quiet and laid back, you can't beat it.

I am not Puerto Rican but I might have an answer for you!
I will actually be staying in San Juan in about a week for vacation - I have stayed there once before. This year I rented a condo right on the beach in Isla Verde.
The site I used is www.vrbo.com - It is extremely easy to use! They show lots of condos that are a lot cheaper than the hotels in the area.
Isla Verde, in my opinion, is a really great place to experience local life, authentic food, etc, but very tourist-y as mentioned before.
Anyway, I hope this helps! Puerto Rico is such a fun trip, make sure you visit Old San Juan a couple of times while there - you can't drink it all in with only one day!
Good luck :)

I recommend you visit Rincon. Aguadilla BQN airport provides direct flights in and out of Florida (Orlando and Tampa). Rincon is a 30 drive from the airport (taxi is around $40.00). You can stay one of many guest houses, apartments, villas or hotels. There are many restaurants to choose from. The weather is beautiful and there are many water activities to do. Check out Rincon.org or youtube rincon puerto rico, there you will see places to stay. If you want something different try the Tropical Tree House. For a car or bike rental call Angelo's Car Rental in Rincon. Good service!

You might want to try the western part of the island like cabo rojo, aquadilla and isabela.
You could also try the northern eastern part like luquillo, fajardo, seven seas.
Authentic food you can find anywhere that's local little food corners, as long as it looks clean its all good. Places to stay you can try paradores of puerto rico most are on the northern eastern side and south of the island. They are private owned little hotels that couples can stay, you might want to pass by and see how they look before staying there, depending on the location and owner cleanliness and quality service you can stay. If your not convinced then you can try american hotles like embassy or holiday inns, hyatt or marriott which are a bit costy but great places to stay.

* Yes, you are.
Can you please give me some ideas of where to stay?
* Try Rincon. Quiet beaches, good food, the best sundowns on the island. Not a high turist area like San Juan or Isla Verde.

Um.. Yahoo Answers SHOULD be closed because every MORON with a STUPID OFF TOPIC QUESTION comes to Answers to ask it.. and WE are expected to answer the same STUPID QUESTION 1000 times without getting cynical.
If you are going to San Juan then think about going to the Caribe Hilton.. it's close to everything. Get one of the stand alone bungalows because they have their own section of private beach and they don't cost that much more.
