Do you think the Vitamix is worth the money?

I have had decent blenders in the past, but they never fail to stop working after using them for a couple of months.

I was debating on weather or not to purchase the Vitamix.

The Vitamix is a 500$ blender. It is the same blender they use at Starbucks, and many other commercial restaurants family owned places.

It comes with a 5 year warranty. If it breaks, they will send you a new one for free.

This is something I would use literally every single day.

I would use it for salsa, guacamole, peanut butter, hummus, and especially green smoothies.

If you do get it, get the smaller pitcher. It doesn't let you disassemble from the bottom, so it's hard getting everything out of the big pitcher.

It does save time, and it does do a wonderful job blending. When we did a huge batch of dosa batter, it did a wonderful job.

It's not good for hummus nor peanut butter. Use a food processor for those. Hummus and peanut butter will clog the blades, and it's hard to remove the food and clean the pitcher (simply buzzing with soap and water isn't going to do it).

You don't want liquidy salsa nor guacamole, again, save that for a food processor.

It's great for green smoothies. And for making your own nut milks.

I had it, but I returned it. For some reason, the cup disassembled on me, and that voids the warranty. I ended up returning it to costco (cheaper if you get it there). I also realized that, at the end of the day, it's still a blender. I don't need my green smoothies to be perfectly liquid, and I don't mind adding a touch more water to get my smoothies smoother. For 30 extra seconds and a touch more liquid and a slightly rougher texture, I found that my regular blender was adequate.

But if you want PERFECT smoothies, be able to fix iced drinks for your friends real quick, and plan to use it for the next 20 years, then it's worth it. Especially if you stop going to starbucks/jamba juice and can get cheap, bulk produce.

Right now, you can get some good deals on reconditioned machines (i have the pro 500 reconditioned stainless). I have the larger container and have had no problem getting anything out of it. The higher end models come with the compact container which are nice, but cost more. Also, Vitamix recently sent out a mother's day email with their latest deals. If you buy it online make sure you search for a promo code for free shipping. I have seen codes on blendtotheend.com, joyofblending.com, and lifeisnoyoke.com. Let me know if you have any questions. Would be glad to help!
