Getting braces next Tuesday, but right now I have little blue spacers. It feels like I have no teeth?

Whenever I talk or eat, it feels like I have no teeth and I'm just chewing with my gums. It feels weird and kind of hurts. I know my teeth are there but my spacers are just so uncomfortable. I keep picking at them, I know I'm not supposed to. My gums were swollen at first, so I took ibuprofen.

My question(s) is, is this normal? Why doe it feel like this?

It's very normal, and you'll get over it within a week, guaranteed. Provided a homeless man didn't put them in with pliers, that is.

    Source(s): I had braces twice.

it could be because there is a tiny rubber band of sorts between your teeth and you are biting on that... the pain should go away within a fre days

    Good luck!! :)
