What kind of permit/license would I need to be able to own a fox?
I live in the state of NY and am interested in owning a fox. But not before I make sure it's the right pet for me and not before I get all of the information needed. I'll include a link to a site for my state regarding permits and licenses.
All I ask is someone tell me just what kind of permit/license I would need in order to be allowed to own a fox.
They are NOT illegal in NY. You just need a permit or a license.
I ask you all KINDLY to not get offended in any way and to not try and dissuade me on my decision. I'm still considering it. I just want to know what kind of permit or license I would need, should I do decide to get one.

I could have sworn I asked kindly to not get offended. I also could have sworn I said I wasn't completely sure about this decision. The reason why I won't get ANOTHER dog, is cuz I already have 3.

Looking at your link I would go under "Special Licenses." I read through the list of permits and licenses and the only one I could think that a Fox would go under would be "Dangerous Wildlife License."
Just to make sure though, call the local fish and game department and ask them. You might want to check local government too and see what they have to say.
All I can say is do your homework, talk to breeders and owners, and make sure they are ok in the county and city you live in. Good luck(:

You have to go to a courthouse. you would have to pay some money but they would give you a permit to own it.

Not trying to dissuade you, but seriously, where are you going to get a fox? i highly doubt there are any fox breeders in NY and they eat live animals. Are you going to feed it a rabbit every day?

You would need permission from my Jack Russel Terriers, their natural prey is the fox. They will be coming for your sweet baby fox.

No idea. Why not just get a rescue dog genius. There are plenty of them that need homes.
