My baby isn't moving as much as before, is this normal?

I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant, and I've felt fetal movement on pretty much an every day basis--specifically when I wake up in the morning, and when I go to bed at night--since about 16 weeks. However, since yesterday, I've felt hardly anything. I still feel some movement, but it seems weaker than previously. I'm freakin' out a little bit, cause I am just imagining my baby is dying or something...I know, more likely the baby has just moved somewhere in my belly that I can't feel her as well. Has anyone had experience with this? Should I be worried, or call into my doctor? I don't want to freak out over every little thing, but her movements just seem so different than before--that I'm nervous.

Update:

It's already been a full day, and we're working on the second day now...

The baby will have days that are not as active, and because she is growing, her movements will feel different. If it worries you alot, or if she goes much longer without moving, ask your doctor about it.

It could be the baby shifted position or has been sleeping a bit more lately. They will have days where they aren't as active. You can try drinking something sugary or cold, sometimes that wakes the baby up. You will feel less movement if your walking about as this tends to rock baby to sleep, in fact you will probably feel it more first thing in the morning or last thing at night because your resting (and baby wakes up).

If your worried though the person you really need to speak to is your midwife. They are more experienced at dealing with things like this and can advise you further.

im also 21 weeks pregnant and theres days my baby moves all the time, and some days not as much, i would think its normal because the baby is not going to always move the same amount everyday, my doctor told me not to worry about that unless your going an entire day or couple of days with very little or zero movement, drink something like orange juice or soda..usually that gets them going, but you still have the rest of the day so im sure the baby will be more active as the day goes on..

My baby started moving at around 13 weeks and moved every other day or so and started kicking at 20 weeks but the kicks were still light, I would feel him every day but his movement suddenly stopped at 22 weeks, I was just as worried as you and I though exactly what you did, so I rang my midwife, she actually told me to drink cold drinks to get him to move. I drank ice cold water and milkshakes and waited a while and he started kicking again. My midwife said that the baby chooses when he wants to move and sometimes you can't feel him kicking because there is so much space in there and he's so tiny that you tend to miss it. I also work as a hairdresser and I'm always on my feet moving about, my midwife said the more we move the less baby moves because when we move we're sort of rocking him in our stomach making him more sleepy and he's more comfortable, when we stop moving they get restless and start fidgeting. I think it's really cute. If your baby doesn't move, after you've drank something cold then you should call your midwife and ask her to check for a heartbeat. Good luck!

Source(s): 29 weeks and 4 days pregnant with my first baby, when you get to my stage your little girl will be kicking all day and you may even see her! I can see my little boy kicking right now :')

don't worry and don't frett. Don't be afraid. I know that's easy for me to say.

It wouldn't hurt to ask your Doctor. See what he says.

I just got this from a friend of mine Im your huckelberry her answer goes like this>>> No, this is not normal your baby could be showing signs of Autism and some neurological problem, have the baby checked out soon. I don't want to scare you mom but your ped. should send this baby for tese. I'll be praying for you and the baby and remember I'm a retired Nurse not a doc. Good Luck
