How do I keep my NETWORKED printer connected at all times?

I have a HP PSC 1315 All in one Printer/Scanner. It is connected to my router. From any PC on the network I can print to it with no problem, it automatically connects. When I attempt to scan something from it, all computers say that the device is not connected. I understand that it is disconnecting when not in use, but I would like to prevent it from doing so. OR find a way to "wake it up" or "connect" so that I can use ALL of the functions without having to connect it directly to a PC.

I'm curious as to how you have it connected to a router since it only has a USB port and is not a network compatible printer. It's possible with adapters or the right kind of router, but it'd be helpful to know how yours is setup.

Since the printer is not designed as a network printer, you will not have access to it's full capabilities (like scanning) over the network, only when it's connected directly to a computer and the necessary software is running on the computer that is designed for the printer do you have complete access to the printer's full functionality.

There is no "waking it up" to access all of it's functions while connected to a network.
