Am I the only one that legitimately enjoyed 'Diary Of The Dead'?

The film opened really strong. Didn't have any problems with the cast. There were some excellent gore scenes. Romero's direction is suspenseful and compelling. Some coool graphic make-up effects. The hand held camera was a nice touch and something new for the sub-genre.( But since than this hand held stuff has become such a gimmick) The film looks nice and grim.Had some quick humor where I thought worked.

I just don't understand the hate towards this particular film.

Most of the 'hate' is from the complete unbelievability of the entire thing.  Had I been a member of their little group I would have killed the camera guy in the first ten minutes. 

Romero lost his touch ten years ago.  His latest film, Survival of the Dead, helps prove that.

My favorite 'footage' film would be Cloverfield.  Though the acting kind of sucked in it too.

I can't say I have a favorite zombie film. I watch them all though.

Found footage has been a gimmick since The Blair Witch Project back in '99.  It was rare to find a good found footage movie before The Blair Witch Project put it on a lot of radars, and it's even rarer to find one now.

I didn't enjoy Diary of the Dead because (for one) I thought the actors were pretty weak.  There ended up being moments where the acting was so bad, I would have been literally embarrassed had someone walked in on me watching it.
