For all those tea experts, help me make tea!?

I want to start drinking tea. I really like the taste but I have no idea how to make it! I know it sounds extremely silly, but it's sadly true. I have some Lipton tea bags and I was wondering how to make one individual serving? I tried looking around the internet but to no success because most of them only show you how to make multiple serving ones (in pitchers)! How much water should I use, when should I add the sugar, what are some things you put in your tea?

Also, do you know any other tea flavors/brands that I should try out that is affordable, healthy, and delicious?

Thanks in advanced!

Some people add milk, cream, sugar and/or honey to their tea. You can do it before or after the tea is made. Unless you happen to be British, then you add it first! I tend to drink it plain, but occasionally I'll add some honey to it when I have plain 'ole orange pekoe (which is probably what you have).

Since people already told you how to make it... Green tea is healthy, as is Rooibos tea. Both are really tasty too. My favourite varieties are spiced Rooibos, green tea with ginger and chai (another spiced tea). Chai is traditionally made differently than what other people have said (it's boiled with the tea bag in it for a couple minutes, then strained and served... but that isn't really required).

I'm not a fan of herbal tea so I can't really give you any suggestions for those, but your mileage may vary.

    Enjoy!

    Step 1: Boil water.

Step 2: Pour boiled water into cup and add tea bag.

Step 3: When tea is strong enough (2-4 minutes, depending on your taste), remove tea bag and discard.

Step 4: Add milk and/or sugar.

I prefer loose tea, myself, but the shop I find it at can be kind of expensive. Some brands offer a sampler box where you can get a few different flavours for the same price as the other boxes, so you can try a few out to see what you like. I know Twinings and Celestial Sensations both have samplers.

You just boil the water, put the tea bag in a cup, pour the water into the cup. The longer you leave the tea bag in the stronger it will be. Usually a minute or 2 for me but depends on your taste, or several minutes if you like it really strong, and depending on how strong the tea is. Then take the tea bag out and add milk and sugar if you like. or you could add some lemon instead of milk. There's loads of tea brands, depends where you are, just have to try them and see which ones you like. The really cheap ones won't be very good but apart from that just depends on your preference.

If you want to be really fancy, you can go get teas in bulk, like assam, genmaicha, etc. Its a good way to just test different teas out. There are green teas, white teas, black teas, herbal teas and fruit teas. If you are making green or white tea don't boil the water, but make sure it is really hot. Black, herbal and fruit teas should have boiling water. Play around with servings! If you think it should be sweetened, add some honey or sugar. If the tea is black, you can add milk or cream to it. Test out the tea as it steeps to see when it is done to you. There are also many different resources for how to drink different teas, online and in book form!

For one cup of hot tea:

    Boil water.

In a standard size cup (about 8 oz) place a tea bag.

Pour boiling water in cup over tea bag

Let it steep inc cup 2-5 minutes until as strong as you like.

You can cover cup with a saucer to keep hot while steeping, if desired..

Drink plain or add lemon, sweetner, or milk.

    Enjoy!
