I'm not a Utah Mormon ( For they claim that Joseph Smith supported polygamy , etc. ; when it is shown to be the opposite ; where his only wife , Emma swore till her death that he never did those things .). Joseph was only interested in bringing back the first century Christianity . The B of M is only a story of Jesus' dealings with some Mid-easterners who came to Central America long ago for freedom . And the similarity between Jesus and the Mayan God , Quetzalcoatl is too great to be dismissed .

True Mormonism is uniquely American in that no other country knew what Jesus meant in his statement to the Jewish Disciples : " I have other sheep , who are not of this fold , who I must visit . " But Isaiah 18 clarifies it , when it is said : Woe , to the land shadowing with wings ( The Americas ) " That is beyond the rivers of ( Africa ) . It is here where God said that He shall dwell and take His rest . And Isaiah 29 says that this Sealed Book would be shown after the early and latter rains return to the Palestinian area ; Which were shut off after Jesus' crucifixion , and only began in 1853 AD . And Gen. 49:21-26 speaks of the Stone of Israel being of the tribe of Joseph .

This is where the safe city will be , and where the Elect can gather in order to prepare for God's ( the Servant of Isaiah 52 ) fiery unveiling ( Ezekiel 28:18-19 & Malachi 3&4 ) . God shall redeem the Mid-west ( Mat.22:41-46 ) so that Jesus will be able to redeem the Mid-east . God's light is far brighter than Jesus' , which shall cause the wicked and hypocrites to spontaneously human combust . And then , Jesus will see the importance to bring his Paradise far away from that so that he will be able to prepare his people for 1000 years in order that they can grow to be able to with-stand God's greater light ; Or else they will have to partake of the second death .

The Church of Jesus Christ was restored to earth again in America because it was a nation which was free and would allow it to be restored. It is not an American church, but Christ's church.

AS far as being successful, I think that a membership of more than 14 million in roughly 150 years time is very successful.

Their is always opposition when new concepts and ideas are presented to people. The growth of the church is a witness that even with opposition, persecution and prejudice the truth cannot be prevented from going to all the world. Just as the original message and teachings of Jesus Christ could not be prevented from being taught even though Christ was crucified.

More than half of organized denominations started in the US, so the LDS/Mormon Church isn't unique in being American. After all, America was first settled to be a place where people could go to believe whatever religion they wanted to.

Interestingly, most of the early Mormons weren't Americans, they were British and Scandinavian. It was only an American church from 1850-1950.

It's not an American Church, it's a world wide church. Over 50% of our members are from other countries.

Nooooooooo, the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints was restored after the Priesthood was lost following the killing of Christ's apostles. It wasn't "invented!"

Given its isolationism from and violence towards outsiders for most of its early history I would not say it identified itself with the nation in which it was founded, no.

Joseph Smith a known alcoholic and con man saw a way to get peoples money by making up his own religion, most people saw through his scam.

Because it was a con job connived by a con artist.
