Is 'The Office' (US version) anything like as funny as the original British series?
Quite often US remakes 'miss the point' of the original shows (Sanford and Son was a US version of Steptoe and Son that really missed the rawness of the original)
5 AnswersComedy8 years agoIs it possible to be a 'spiritual atheist'?
Can a person who is convinced there is no god be 'spiritual', or is that quality restricted to believers?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoThere is one thing that is really annoying me about my laptop sound at the moment?
(Well actually since I got it) and this is it: There is a persistent 'echo' on any sound that I would prefer wasn't there.... To give more details, I have an Acer Aspire 5332 (Windows 7) with a pair of external speakers (Logitech). I would appreciate any suggestions as to how a 'neutral' (non-echo) sound could be obtained...

Did anybody feel 'let down' by the apparent (?) failure of the 'ancient Mayan prophecy' of that particular date?
14 AnswersCurrent Events8 years agoHere's a question for 'intelligent designers'....?
If our eyes are intelligently designed, why is it that they all have a 'blind spot'? This is not a necessity in the construction of the optics of natural eyes - cephalopods (squid, octopuses and so on) have eyes which don't have a blind spot, so they have better vision than we do - couldn't the Designer have given us eyes that worked in the same way as these 'inferior designs' - Is it time for the Designer to go back to his workbench and come up with a better design - in fact, now that this has been pointed out, couldn't the Designer 'retrofit' us with version 2.0?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoHow do I convince my computer to use another zip program than winzip....?
....which appears to believe that it is the only zip/unzip program that is on the machine, and my 'free use' seems to have lapsed (I thought that WinZip was free for non-commercial use anyway) Could it be a problem associated with 64-bit Windows 7? (My previous computer was an 32 bit XP model) I do have a copy of 7-Zip on my machine, which is a 'free-use' program, but the machine goes straight to WinZip when I have a zip file to deal with.... Any suggestions would be gratefully received....
4 AnswersSoftware9 years agoWhy is it that the BBC tv 'presentation department' (I think they call it that...)?
.... that is responsible for the timing of TV shows appears to be unable to start programmes at the advertised times? This is particularly noticeable with shows that start between 7pm and 8pm.... Shows frequently start up to 2 minutes before the advertised times... resulting in the 'beheading' of shows that start at that time...
1 AnswerOther - Television9 years agoIf you are using a 12-hour clock...?
... is there any possible logic to describing midday as 12pm? I mean the sequence seems to go something like ....10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm Would it not be better to adopt the 24 hour clock, which eliminates ambiguity?

5 AnswersAstronomy & Space9 years agoI have a niggling thing on my laptop which keeps asking for access?
for the onscreen keyboard starting during every reboot. At the moment I just deny it access to the system, but I would like to see the last of it. Any ideas gratefully considered....
It usually gives up asking after it has been denied about 40 times, but I would like it to take the hint earlier....

The ones that have pictures of teeth (you know the ones I mean...). I don't mind most ads, but these ones just turn my stomach... so, how do I indicate to the automated ad servers that I am just not interested in these ones (it's counterproductive really)
