    Hmmm...certainly an open-ended question.

    But I'll bite.

    Windows:

Pros: Used almost everywhere. Huge amount of software and hardware. Most people know it. Vast selection of laptops and PCs. Cheap. Usually easy to use.

Cons: Stability issues. Install/de-install issues. Require you to maintain your machine. Sometimes requires more technical knowledge than most typical people have.

Opinion: Great for most people. But PLEASE don't anyone tell me how fantastically stable Windows is nowadays.

Source: Me...I've been using Windows since Windows 3.0.

    Mac:

Pros: Stable OS. Easy to use. Not a lot of technical knowledge needed. Easy to install/de-install software. Most peripheral installs are easy. More people-oriented and techie-oriented.

Cons: Expensive. Less software available than for Windows. Not particularly upgradable.

Opinion: Great for people who want to use their machine, rather than maintain and upgrade it.

Source: Me...I've been using Macs since the IIfx.

    Linux:

I'll be honest. I worked with Linux for about 2 years and LOVED it. But that was purely in a business environment where it was used as a web server and database server. So I really can't address it in relation to Windows and OS X.

    Hope this helps.

Source(s): Me...been in the computer field, well, for just too long.

It relies upon. a million. domicile windows & Mac both are paid. 2. domicile windows is maximum common and versatile of operating device, more suitable companies for Viruses. 3. domicile windows execution is way swifter than linux & Mac 4. Mac is ideal for particular style of apple application. 5. domicile windows do no longer want a lot of skills to operate or eliminate classes or replace different settings. 6. Linux has many variations maximum of them are free alongwith free stuff like open place of work, suite, image Editor,CAD application yet you want some skills to operate removeprograms/softwares. continuously you should seek for an option application in Linux as compared to domicile windows. your time Hardware drivers are literally not availabe for Linux and Mac. Virus Infections are too a lot less. I recommend for twin operating device installation, then you somewhat will be in a position to study your self. Ubuntu is the most person pleasant Linux version.

It depends on what you are doing with it. Linux is FREE though, and I like XP because it's compatible with 99% of all Windows apps :). Mac is a lot of money but very user friendly. Linux having viruses and malware from the internet is unheard of (it's very safe for internet browsing).
