Is 'The Office' (US version) anything like as funny as the original British series?

Quite often US remakes 'miss the point' of the original shows (Sanford and Son was a US version of Steptoe and Son that really missed the rawness of the original)

panel shows like 8 out of 10 cats or QI are humorous.Shameless is humorous, very dark and intensely english. My kinfolk is okay (does what it says on the tin).My spouse likes grotesque Betty. 2 classics of recent years somewhat divide opinion....League of gents and my prevalent with the help of a protracted way Little Britain......a million/2 hour of condensed ''us''...hence the call.i don't comprehend if it travels nicely inspite of the undeniable fact that this is a abdomen churning precise depiction of british society now...and fully balk-worth in locations and eye watereringly humorous in maximum. you will in all danger hate it

Not nearly as funny. Why dont you just import all our original shows and watch them, rather than making you own versions?. Then again, maybe that's why - you have a completely different sense of humour and some do indeed 'miss the point'.

i didn't think so. The original was painfully, toe curlingly, cringeworthy. It was almost one of those things that's so bad it's funny, except that it wasn't, because it was meant to be like that, it deliberately derived much of it's humor from being painful to watch. The american one is like most american shows, dumbed down for a mass audience, with characters that are almost caricatures rather than real people.

Yea the American one was funny but more like a regular American sitcom with goofy jokes. Its only good because Steve Carell is such a great comic actor. I still liked the British one better.
