how to select default unzip program...?
When I download a file that is in ZIPped form, my laptop tries to open an UNZIP program that needs paid for - but I'm sure there is at least one freeware unzipper on board - how do I make it the default?

Download 7-Zip, which is free of charge for both private as well as business use. Install it, open it and in the preferences of 7-Zip mark it as the default application for each archive format, such as ZIP, RAR, 7Z, et cetera.

go to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Default Programs >Set your default program > here search for the exact zip software which u want as default(the programs will be on left side on the screen...

To open compressed files (zip rar jar iso 7z cab uue gz....) you have to use WinRar. With WinRar you can easily decompress files and folders.

I recommend 7zip.. It's free. With it, just right click the file, put your mouse of '7-zip', and your options will be in there.

attempt looking a zipping software and deploy it -> you may locate that this device makes itself the default. i could propose 7-zip (google "7zip") In 7-Zip go [approaches] > [techniques] > {device} you will see a gaggle of bins which you would be able to verify. each and each will associate 7-zip with certainly one of those zip report.
