glucosamine, sugar or joints!?

I am confused, I see ads on tv for gluclosamine to reduce blood sugar level, I read on here, it raises levels, and the only kind I can find in the store is for joint health. Can anyone explain this to me?

Update:

Thanks for all the help, it turns out I was looking into the wrong supplement, it was Glucosulin I wanted info on, and have found it. Sorry, my bad. I will say i discovered a relief for my arthritis that has reduced my pain med intake

That's the problem about dietary supplements, they don't have to prove that they actually work. According to Wikipedia, it's marketed for joints as it's a precursor to the glycosaminoglycans in joint cartilages but the problem is that people exceed the recommended doses because they don't feel anything. The result of the higher dosages is damage to the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas which could cause diabetes. There seems to be nothing about it reducing glucose. You really can't trust anything that you hear from the adverts on dietary supplements.

I've never heard of glucosamine being used to lower glucose levels. I know there are ads for Glucerna--which is a product name--which is used more to insure that diabetics don't go into a hypoglycemic condition by drinking or eating a Glucerna drink or snack bar. They are supposed to (but I've never checked it out) contain carbs that will convert to glucose slowly in your body so you don't spike but will get a long steady release over a longer period of time (then something like eating chips or reguar bread) so you don't go hypo.
