Is it a bad idea to buy a prom dress off Ebay?
I was looking on Ebay for a prom dress because my parents aren't helping me pay for prom at all and I have a walking disability so I can't work but I don't get allowance so needless to say I'm a little strapped for cash. I found a used prom dress on Ebay that I loved for 20 dollars. Is it a bad plan to buy a prom dress off of Ebay? If so, is there something else I should do to get my hands on a cheap used prom dress? Thanks!
It is from JcPenney and I have tried on dresses there to know that I wear a size 1 at that store and the dress is in a size 1.
Prom isn't until late April for me so I have plenty of time to find a dress.

Buying off of eBay is always risky. However, in my 10 years of shopping on the site, I have had only 1 bad experience, which was remedied after a couple of emails. I say if the dress is the right size (or close to it - you can easily have it altered), it's worth the risk since the price is right. I say take a chance and buy it. I bet you'll be happy in the end.

Sometimes its a bad choice. Now, I bought a formal dress which is being sold on a lot of other sites, but i got it on ebay for just a bit cheaper, brand new! However, sometimes when you buy a set size instead of customized, or even if you're exchanging with foreign people it may be harder as my dresses measurements were all perfect for me, yet the dress was twice the size of me! But I'm sure you could contact the seller and ask any questions, most of them are so lovely! As long as you don't mind buying it and maybe having to return it and waiting for your money? If you have your prom soon like within a month you shouldn't buy off ebay as deliveries can mess up and you might be stuck, however if not give it a go! I hope you find a lovely dress :)

i bought my beautiful wedding dress off ebay w/no problems. of course i did have to pay to get it altered so factor in that cost if you need it. i even sold in on craigslist when i was done with it. you might try craigslist for a prom dress, too.

The only problem with buying clothing on eBay is that the clothing may not fit you quite right. I would suggest Goodwilll, Salvation Army, etc

It could be a bad idea because it may not fit right, and if it is $20 it may not be in the best condition.
