You could possibly have TMJ. Does you jaw make a popping or clicking sound when you open or close your mouth? Is the pain on the joint in front of your ear or behind it. If its in the front and you answered yes to the first question than you could possibly have a case of TMJ. I'm only 16 too and I have severe TMJ. If you do not know what TMJ is, feel free to look it up.

You could also have your wisdom teeth coming in which would cause swollen gums, hard time chewing and jaw pain. I'm sure you haven't had them removed yet, as many 17 and under still haven't had them fully grown, though there are cases where they will need to come out even at a young age of 16. Mine having been coming in for a year now and they kill. My gums get cut up every other week when they try to break through.

My advice, try to see a dentist as soon as possible so they can, 1 identify the problem and 2 try to solve it before the pain gets worse and before it causes severe problems.

I could pass to the dentist first and spot in the event that they discover any disorders after which pass to the health care professional. I had this concern approximately two months in the past-- dentist dominated out any disorders so I went to the health care professional. They identified me with trigeminal neuralgia and dealt with it with anti-seizure remedy. After a couple of days the soreness went away. The soreness used to be excruciating-- I could not consume or drink, could not brush my tooth, even the wind set it off.. It could also be a dental concern even though.. do you ever get up grinding your tooth? Good good fortune..
