My Interior lights in my car keep flickering and going on and off.?

I have a 2005 ford freestar. My entire interior lights keep flickering and turning on and off. I'm not sure if it's the battery or do I have to replace a fuse? It's not happening all the time but the lights get hot if they stay on too long.

Update:

It is not one light in the car, it is all of the interior lights, including the dash. they are even n sync with each other.

Update 2:

I should add that even when the car is parked and I open the door it does it. The car isn't moving and isn't started. Any interaction with the interior lights will cause them to do it. But it doesn't happen all the time. It's quite random but I'm seeing it happen a lot more in the past few days.

A lot of bulbs simply get hot (incandescent), if it was your fuse, it would be blown or not, and its not. Could be as simple as the bulb isn't seated properly to loose connections in wiring or bad/loose ground.

Two things I can think of: Ford is notorious for bad door ajar switches. Could be that the switch is jostling between open and closed, which would activate the interior lights (as if you were opening and closing the door). Second, all of the interior lighting is controlled by a single computer. A loose connection at the computer or short in the wiring could also cause the interior lights to act up.

it extremely is maximum probable the Alternator yet ought to doubtlessly be the bcm (physique administration module)...or the two. replace it with a DENSO or DELPHI alternator (used or new) or something rebuilt domestically. bypass to a areas save and notice what different aftermarket producers exist for this vehicle. or you will would desire to easily take the alternator off and have it custom rebuilt. BMWs have those electric powered issues simply by fact they use bosch electronics that are undesirable. fixing this issue assumes that bosch may even make a first rate electric powered harness which...could no longer be the case.
