Does a credit card cost you if you don't buy anything on it?

I'm a college student looking to build credit. I really don't know a lot about them. And I'm looking at an Amazon Visa Credit card. I'm not stupid and I'm not going to buy crazy things and not pay for them. But I was wondering if a credit card would cost me if I didn't buy anything at all?

Update:

No it advertises "no annual fee"

If it advertises no annual fee, then as long as you pay your bill in full each month, it won't cost anything. You just want to make sure that you pay in full and you're never late. If you start having late fees added in, the charges will really start adding up.

I don't know anything about Amazon's credit card. Does it get you an extra savings when you purchase things from Amazon? Or, extra cash back?

My daughter has a Discover card, which she loves. If you use this application https://www.discovercard.com/cardmembersvcs/acqs/a... you'll get $50 cashback once you've made your first purchase. And, you get cashback on everything that you buy.

You do have to use the credit card to build up credit. While you're trying to build credit, I'd suggest using it once a month - then pay that amount immediately. At the very least, you should always use a credit card about every six months. Otherwise, they're sometimes not considered active on your credit report (as far as helping with your history).

I graduated last year. After my first semester, I only bought used textbooks. I saved a great deal of money. As long as the book is the one that you need (current edition), it shouldn't matter if its new or used. Also, if you can find out what books you'll need for the following semester, you can often buy them very cheaply from people who are dropping out of school. In addition, you can find textbooks online even cheaper through places like EBay, Amazon, and campusi. Used books is a big business. Use the ISBN number to search for the book, not the title. As far as saving money, of course you should! Once, I was able to buy an almost new textbook that the cover was ripped off of. I removed the remaining binding and put the pages in a 3-ring binder. My instructor was impressed by my frugality.

credit card fees originate from "annual fees", not paying bill by due date, and not paying in full by due date. actually there is NO interest charge whatsoever if you pay the billed amount in full by the due date.i have several cards and none of them have an annual fee.

No it doesn't cost you anything although I don't know anything about amazon credit cards. I have a US bank credit card and I don't pay anything to have it.

If there is an annual fee then yes you have to pay

Probably not. If they do have an annual fee or any other BS fee, then you should probably not even bother applying.
