the universe is composed of matter, energy, space, and time. If there is no universe there is no time, and no space. There was a non-physical Void however and non-physical creatuive forces,

Quite frankly, there are a number of theories on the subject of "prior to the Big Bang."

To get right down to the issue, one must decide which basic theory of the origin of

things you are going to believe. If everything came from the big bang then the object

which exploded (big bang) had to exist somewhere, most probably in space.

If the super dense object which exploded (big bang) existed in space then there were

probably other objects there in space along with the special super dense object. There

are no proofs of that multi-object existance at the time of the big bang, of course,

because the event occurred some 13 odd billion years ago. However, if you accept the

idea that as big as outer space is there must have been something out there besides the

super dense object that exploded, then there is possibility that things have been exploding

again and again all through time, not just on this one special time. And, if you are willing

to consider that as a real posibility, then the gizmo that exploded might have been a really

big black hole that sucked in so much material that it simply exceeded its critical mass and

exploded. If you tend to agree with this, notice that there would have been things for the

really big black hole to absorb, and thus the big bang was not the beginning of everything,

rather it was a point in time which everyone could point to and begin measuring time and

relavance. Prior to that time there is no occurance or event to mark a starting point for

    astronomers and scientists.

Space did not exist before the Big Bang, thus it had no size. The Big Bang is what developed and evolved into space.

There wasn't any space before the Big Bang happened.

No way of knowing because the big bang created time and space.

Before the big bang space, time, matter did not exist. Space was no more than a sum of energies that was "heated" to the point that there was so much energy it converted to mass. This comes from Einsteins famous E=mc2.

According to most current theory, zero or near-zero size.
