Years ago we used to drain the oil and leave it in a metal pan on the wood stove overnight and bring the battery in where it is warm. Too much for you to do in -30 in the morning.
Hopefully you have thin oil in the engine. I agree leaving a charger on the battery overnight on ten amps or so is a great idea and park it out of the wind if you can. If your car is in good shape that should do it.

If you have a trouble light that you can plug in outside, lift the hood and place the lightbulb as close to the engine (not near any rubber or wires) as possible. Or even better put it under the car touching the oil pan. The larger the bulb (100w) the better. Then close the hood. If you can put a blanket on top of the hood to keep heat in there from the light bulb do that too. I tried taking the battery into the house one time when it was really cold (-25F here in the states) because a cold battery has less power, but I found that the oil was so thick from the cold it just wouldn't turn over fast enough to catch. Keeping the light bulb heating the oil pan will help that out tremendously.

You can put a trouble light under the hood, but that is taking a chance of fire...
One way, it is a pain in the.....but it works, and that is to go out every three hours or so and start the car, let it warm up to normal....then shut is down. That way, the engine will not be real cold, in the morning...but like I said, it can be a pib..
If you use a light, make sure that it cannot break easily, and if it does, it will have a guard around it to keep it from shorting out on the engine. Most lights will not put out enough heat anyway, to help.
One thing you can do, when you do buy something, is get a small trickle charger that hooks to the battery, and plugs in...you then plug it in over night, and this keeps the battery warm, which helps a lot. Batteries lose half of their power, at zero...so at 30 below, the battery would be almost one fourth the power it has when warm. ...a small charge going in helps keep it warm....they also have battery warmer pads, that go under the battery, to help keep them warm, and they also plug into the electric outlet. So you have to unplug them before you leave.
Or take the outlet and part of the house with you...lol.

The only thing I can suggest, which you should definetly do, is take the battery out of the car and store it in the house. Over night it most likely will freeze up and will give you a hard start.

Just remembering my dad put some hot coals under the oil pan on a shovel one cold morning and a few minutes later it started right up.

As long as your antifreeze mixture is correct and your battery is in good shape it should be okay.
I lived in Minot, ND for a while and never had an issue. I never installed a block heater.

leave it running haha, just kidding. It would prob be fine but unless your battery was almost new I would take that in the house.

it should be fine just like he said charge your battery full cause your battery can go down in the cold causing it to not start

charge the battery overnight to get max charge and put it in your garage if you have one
