Who is considered a cancer survivor?

When you're not taking treatment? If you live a certain length of time? I have stage 4 lung, the only meds I take are Dilaudid. I haven't had chemo since July. So what do I call myself, a survivor, a waiting-to-get -sick-again?

The gold standard of surviving cancer is or was 5 years without recurrence. I would say you are a survivor~! The Dilauded tells me you are experiencing pain.

I wonder if your dilaudid addiction causes you to post those nonsense questions of yours.... If someone has stage 4 lung....cancer, I assume? And the drs have stopped chemo, you should be in hospice. Now, if someone HAD stage 4 lung cancer, they may, by some giant miracle, be in remission or at least stable for the time being.

Either way, I don't consider myself a cancer survivor any more than I consider myself a sore throat survivor or a headache survivor.

I've heard stories of people who died of old age after being diagnosed with cancer, I don't know pal, sorry I can't answer your question, if you don't hurt anymore I would slowly drop the Dilaudid, maybe with the help of a doc.

I think your considered a survivor if you are cancer free or if you go int remission.
